Financed by Hajji Jasim Uddin, a prominent businessman in the UAE and a 6-time recipient of the best remittance sender award from the government, a 10-day food distribution program covering the entire month of Ramadan has begun for 30,000 families in Raozan, Chittagong, on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.<\/p>
The program was inaugurated on Friday at 10 AM through a ceremony at the Yunus Company residence in the Noapara Union of the upazila. Hajji Mohammad Rafiq, Director of the Foundation, inaugurated the distribution drive as the chief guest. Guests included Foundation Director Mohammad Mokhtar Ahmad, Abu Taher, Headmaster of Noapara High School Mohammad Habib Ullah Master, social worker Khasrul Amin Chowdhury, Foundation Director Yasinul Haq, Farooq Azam, IIUC Professor Dr. Mofizur Rahman, social worker Ashraf Ali, journalist S. M. Yousuf Uddin, and Maulana Mufti Ibrahim, among others.<\/p>
It is learned that the program was organized under the management of the Hajji Jasim Uddin Foundation, set up in the name of expatriate businessman Hajji Jasim Uddin, son of the late prominent businessman of the area, Yunus Company. The distribution will continue for 10 days.<\/p>
To carry out this initiative systematically, the foundation spent the last month making all necessary preparations. Prior to that, over the past 6 months, approximately 30,000 poor and needy families across 14 unions and 1 municipality in Raozan were registered digitally to bring them under this program. Digital cards were issued to them for receiving the relief items. The identity of the recipients is verified using scanners at the verification booths set up at the distribution venue before handing over the food items. The distributed food items total 9 commodities, including 1 bag of rice, 1 bag of potatoes, chickpeas, vermicelli, sugar, oil, flattened rice, lentils, and puffed rice.<\/p>
According to the Jasim Uddin Foundation, expatriate businessman Jasim Uddin has been consistently carrying out this food distribution program for poor and needy families during the holy month of Ramadan for the past 25 years. Preparations were made over the last 6 months to manage this year's distribution for 30,000 families. All preparations were completed at the home of Jasim Uddin's father, Yunus Company, where food items have been stored. Over the 10-day period, distribution will take place daily among 3,000 families. More than 100 workers of the Jasim Uddin Foundation will work to ensure the operations run smoothly.<\/p>","bn":"
